d410 hard drive

The d410 hard drive for the latitude series of laptops requires a standard 9.5mm IDE laptop hard drive.  The hard drive is mounted into the caddy as shown below:

You will need an IDE connector in conjuction with the caddy in order to connect it to the motherboard.   Installing it into the caddy is quite easy, simply unscrew the old hard drive and reinstall the new one.  Make sure not to loose any of these screws because you cannot find replacements at any hardware store.  If you simply need extra storage, you can always go with an external hard drive.  You can find replacement parts at notebooksrus and search by part number and description.  There are generic aftermarket caddies out there that will work just fine as well and you might save a few bucks.
